Sunset beach session on the Oregon Coast

The end of an elopement day on the Oregon Coast from Immersed Education

I quickly learned that it rains a lot in Oregon.. like a lot. Ottawa is cold, and in our winters, it’s been colder than Mars before. BUT WOW, I was not prepared for Oregon to be colder than home – in June!

I absolutely love the west coast though. The view’s are endless – straight out of a postcard – and there’s so much to see. I was only there for 5 days, so I know I only scratched the surface of all that the state has to offer.

I flew out to Oregon after a full wedding day – meaning after 4 hours of sleep I was at the airport at 4am, it was a long day. After 2 flights, we made it to Portland and spent the night in the city, it was… a little sketchy. But we had breakfast at an Australian cafe in the morning, and it was reminiscent when my friend and I were in Australia for 7 weeks!

If you’ve seen my other blog post with how this workshop started, this is how we finished off the day – my favourite way, with sunset at the beach. It was a perfect end to the day because we actually got a sunset, and out of my 5 days there, it was the only one.

With 20+ of us chasing the light and shooting until our hearts were full, we said our thank you’s and goodbyes. My friend came with me to the Oregon Coast, so we stayed at the beach after everyone left. We sat on a washed up log and watched the waves crash on the shore, just when it couldn’t get any better, a seal popped up! It was so fun seeing it play in the waves and was such a sweet way to end the evening.

Thank you again to Rachel and David for all the fun they made this session. And for braving the freezing water!
