Spring Studio Couple’s Session at Archive Studio

A sweet and intimate afternoon at Archive Studio in Toronto

If you’ve seen my other blog post from Archive Studio, you’ll know that this studio in Toronto is the perfect mix of contemporary and elegant. Its stunning 3 studios were incredible to shoot in and the light was what photographer dreams are made of. If you’re looking to have your session somewhere new, fun and different, I totally recommend checking out renting a studio like Archive Studio.

I love capturing these sessions because they can be so fun and playful, it’s really just your ideal date with me tagging along! Here are some tips for planning your couples/engagement session:

  • Location is usually the first question. It’s best to start with places that mean something to you or your story. It could be your family’s cottage that you’ve spent countless summers at, your favourite ice cream shop nearby, a park that you love to walk your dog at. Or if you want somewhere with a specific look, you can rent studios like Archive Studio, head to the city for nice architectural backdrops, or use my list of recommended locations!
  • Once you have your where figured out, you can either stop there and plan outfits, or you can brainstorm an activity to do. This could be a hike, popping champagne, sharing a pizza and some beers – whatever you want!
  • Outfit choices – my only advice it to choose something that is comfortable, you feel great in, and doesn’t have any big logos or graphics. Neutrals are timeless and photograph really well in any location.
  • Music! I always ask my couples what kind of music they like to listen to so that I can play a special playlist during their session. I find that adding music to the background can distract some nerves, and make the experience more fun. No crickets or awkward silence here. I definitely recommend making your own playlist to match the vibe you’re envisioning for your session; romantic, energetic, playful, adventurous, soft, gentle etc.

I hope these tips help plan your session, it’ll be an amazing time! If you’re looking to have your engagement or couples session soon, let’s connect! I have limited availability and would love to be a part of this special season.
