A City engagement Session in Downtown Ottawa
This month I met Vero & Nick at the Restays Courtyard for their Downtown Ottawa engagement session. Typically by this time of the year it starts to warm up and most of the winter snow is gone, but this evening was quite windy and chilly! No better way to stay warm than cuddling up with your love.
After getting warmed up at the Restays Courtyard, we walked to the Wellington Building across from Parliament. It’s a stunning building with beautiful golden doors. The street in front is actually barricaded off, so I had a ton of space to back up into the street – hot tip for photographers!
As we were shooting here, a group of people doing a night tour cheered at us taking photos, it gets me every time lol!
When the sun was setting we headed to the National Arts Centre balcony for a view of the Chateau Laurier and Senate of Canada Building. This view is one of the best in Downtown Ottawa and has ample space for wedding party portraits if you are getting married anywhere near Downtown Ottawa. Vero and Nick popped a bottle of champagne and clinked their glasses as the sun disappeared and it was a blast!
Vero and Nick are one of my wedding couples this year and I’m so excited for their wedding at Le Belvedere in September! If their wedding is anything like them, I know it’s going to be fun, sentimental and beautiful.
I brought along with me my 35mm Canon EOS 1 camera and tried out a roll of Kodak Gold. I typically use Portra 400 but one of the joy of learning film/developing your style is experimenting! This stock was a little too golden for my liking, so I did tweak them a bit in Lightroom. Overall it’s still a great and more affordable film that you can find in Walmart sometimes!
Keep scrolling to see what their Downtown Ottawa engagement session looked like in early April at golden hour. I definitely recommend checking out these locations in the Downtown area if you’re planning your wedding or just want to enjoy a nice walk after grabbing a coffee.
Are you planning your city engagement session or Ottawa wedding? I’d love to connect and hear all about it! I’m still accepting a few more 2023 weddings for June, July and October and my 2024 calendar is officially open!
